After last year’s Taco Shack blowout 42- 3, you’d think the Trojans would show pity on the McCallum Knights, but you would have thought wrong. The Trojans walked into House Park with the intent to destroy and they walked out successful.
After an excruciatingly long and hot summer training, the Trojans were not going to let their practice go to waste. The crowd roared as the boys in white rushed the field, and McCallum trembled in fear because they knew what was about to happen. About 4 minutes into the first quarter, Quarterback, Brady Gephart, hurled a 45-yard pass to Ed Small who left two McCallum defenders broken at the 10-yard line as he waltzed into the endzone for a touchdown. McCallum, still shaking in their cleats from what they just saw, goes nowhere during their first possession and blunders a punt attempt giving the Trojans the ball deep in the Knight’s territory. Soon after, Gephart threw a risky 7-yard pass right between another two defenders straight to Ed Small again for another touchdown, just to let the Knights know that it’s gonna be a long night for the fine arts school. After a fumbled kickoff return that landed the Trojans deep in McCallum territory again, with 4 minutes left in the first quarter Dayden Williams took a stroll right through a McCallum defender into the endzone for a 1 yard touchdown.
You didn’t need to be a psychic to see that Ed Small had more touchdowns in his future. Soon into the 2nd quarter, Small caught another pass from Gephart while about the entire Knight’s defense tried to bring him down as he dove for the endzone and scored again. McCallum just had no answers for the Trojan offense and now they’ve started to hallucinate. They can see the boogeyman. The crowd doesn’t see any boogeyman however, they just saw Jack Middleton picking apart the Knight’s offense as he executed his fourth for-loss tackle, giving the Knights no breaks and taking their lunch money while he’s at it. A 24 yard run by Williams puts the Trojans at the 1 yard line and the backup Quarterback, Max Gerlich, seals the deal with a 1 yard dive for the endzone.
McCallum has completely broken down at this point, with a friendly fire fumble in the backfield giving the Trojans the ball at the Knight’s 44, all hope for signs of life from McCallum is lost. Ben Hatcher decided that the Knights hadn’t had enough yet, he was hungry for a touchdown. He ran for 59 yards, leaving the entire McCallum defense well behind him with turf in their socks as he strolled into the endzone again to seal McCallum’s fate.
The Trojans were able to repeat their blowout at House Park, but the question is what else they will repeat this season. With the senior class wanting to make a name for themselves this year, will this team finally be able to make the playoffs this year?
