The Nintendo Switch 2 is launching in June, and it will cost $449.99. Various sources from Insider Gaming claim that it has a three-part plan releasing at launch. According to Gamespot, phase one launches the Switch 2 and announces the release of Mario Kart. In June, more developers will get Switch 2 kits. Phase two is set for October and November, and it will reveal more third-party games. The last phase is on holiday, and no additional details were given, only that more games will be released.
The Nintendo Switch 2 direct is set for April 2nd, and there’s also another Nintendo direct that will occur this week. The direct will mainly focus on the original Switch and games that will release on it, like Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. Nintendo also released Xenoblade Chronicles X, which has a hidden 60 fps mode. This mode may be accessed by Switch 2, which answers people’s questions about better FPS.
According to Gamerant, Nintendo also announced a new feature – virtual game cards – that will be coming to the Switch 2 and the original. These game cards will let users treat their digital games like physical ones. It will allow digital games to be purchased, downloaded, and shared with other Switch consoles. Those who own more than one Switch console will be able to move around their game data more easily between accounts. This makes the games similar to a physical cartridge that can get ejected and moved to the next console.
This new feature will require an internet connection to download and switch between consoles. Accounts in the same family group can lend copies of the same game to other members, but only one game can be lent out at the same time. Lent games are shared through a local wireless connection, and they will last up to two weeks. When those two weeks are up, they will automatically get sent back to the owner. This new feature will be available with a system update in late April, and it will also be available for the Switch 2.
Nintendo capped off the direct with the reveal of a new mobile app. The app is called “Nintendo Today”, and it will function like a daily calendar with news about announcements. This will include Switch 2 news whenever the time comes. You will need a Nintendo account to access all of the information given. The app arrived on March 27th for both IOS and Android. This new app allows users to pick from different Nintendo franchises for the app theme, and widgets can be created with this app as well.
Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto revealed to Nintendo Today that the company wanted to speak to the fans directly, which led to the new app. He confirmed that Nintendo Directs will continue, the next one being on April 2nd. The new app will allow you to view the news without having to watch any of the directs. This makes it more convenient if you don’t have any time to watch a livestream. The new app will also have news about games and characters, not just Direct news.
In the new Nintendo Direct, more info was released about the new console. Nintendo Switch 2 has a chat button, allowing you to join parties with up to twelve friends. You can share your screen while playing and have your face over the gameplay. The USB camera will be sold separately in some games, and it can show your face next to your character while playing Mario Party. The camera costs fifty dollars.
The new Pro controller also has the new chat button and GR GL buttons on the back. The back buttons can be mapped to whatever you want, making gaming more comfortable. It has HD Rumble 2 and finally an audio jack.
The Dusk Bloods, a new Fromsoft game, was announced as an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game is set in a gothic Victorian era with a hint of vampirism. Up to eight players will be thrown into battle, fighting each other and NPC nightmare fuel. Signature Souls boss fights will also be making a comeback.
Nintendo Switch 2 is $449.99. Accessories will be twenty-fifty dollars including camera and Pro Controller. Preorders started April 24th for the Switch, being sold out in many locations already.
